Draw Your Ultimate Dinosaur Contest
Challenge
For the Royal Ontario Museum’s Ultimate Dinosaurs exhibition, we wanted to reach a young audience and encourage them to visit.
Actions
I came up with the idea of kids imagining, drawing and sharing their own, unique dinosaur.
We partnered with a well-known parenting magazine to promote the contest, and we designed creative that would be appealing to kids.
I also wrote copy that would give kids an idea of where they might want to start, and make the dinosaur’s life something they could relate to: “What is your dinosaur’s name? What does it like to eat? How does it protect itself from enemies?”
We displayed every contest entry on the Museum’s website, and we asked the kids’ activity groups in the Museum to create some dinos so we could pre-populate the entry page.
Results
The contest was a success with over 300 entries, including a Hug-asaur, a Fishy-Cracker Baryonyx, a Two Headed Sea-aqualia, and a Shinosaurus Rex. It was also great fun for the Marketing team to see so many incredibly imaginative dinosaurs!
